May 2, 1999 PROVO, Utah – The top-ranked BYU men's volleyball team will take on the No. 4 seed Penn State on Thursday, May 6 in the first-round of the NCAA Championships in Los Angeles. The Cougars will play the Nittany Lions in the first match, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (MDT). Long Beach State and Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne will play immediately following. For those wishing to attend that NCAA Championship, tickets are still available by calling the UCLA ticket office at (310) 825-2101. Regardless of the outcome at the NCAA Tournament, the Cougars will be returning to Salt Lake Sunday morning. Those wishing to join the BYU welcome party, celebrating the greatest season ever, are invited to arrive at the Salt Lake International Airport at approximately 10 a.m. Sunday, May 9. The team will be returning to Salt Lake aboard Delta Flight 377 from Los Angeles, scheduled to arrive at 10:18 a.m. (MDT). Broadcasts In Utah Thursday's first-round match will be televised live on KBYU, preceded by a half-hour "Road to the Final Four" special at 7:00 p.m. (MDT). If BYU wins, on Saturday they will face the winner of Long Beach State v. Indiana Purdue at Fort Wayne. KBYU will air the match live at 5:30 p.m. MT preceded by a half-hour "Road to the Final Four" special beginning at 5:00 p.m. (MDT). KSL radio, 1160 AM, will also broadcast the championship game, with Jeff Ruffalo calling the action. Broadcasts Outside Utah ESPN2 will carry the first round match vs. Penn State on a tape-delayed basis, beginning at 9:30 p.m. (MDT). Depending on the NHL playoffs, ESPN2 will either broadcast the championship match live or at 9 p.m. (MDT). Broadcasts via Internet Both of the volleyball games will be broadcast live over the Internet by KBYU.
