#1 BYU to Battle # 13 Penn State in NCAA Semis |

May 2, 1999 PROVO, Utah – The men's volleyball championship selection committee today announced the pairings for next week's NCAA Final Four. In its first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championships, BYU (28-1) was selected as the No.1 seed and will take on the No. 4 seed, Penn State (21-12) on Thursday, May 6. Click Here After falling to USC in the semi-final round of the MPSF Tournament, Long Beach State was issued new life after receiving the only at-large berth to the tournament. The 49ers enter the Final Four as the No. 2 seed and will play No. 3 Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne on Thursday. The NCAA Tournament will feature the top-three teams, according to the latest AVCA poll, as well as the No. 13 team – Penn State. Source: BYU Press Release
