Duckworth’s double to right field drove in Luke Geddes to break an eight-all deadlock. Teammate Brian Kruse doubled to left field on the next play to score Duckworth for an insurance run. BYU jumped out to a 7-2 lead before the Thunderbirds tied the game in the sixth inning and took the lead off D.J. Pennick’s two-run double to left field. Pennick also had a two-run single in the fifth. Kruse extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single after Pennick’s double in the sixth. The Cougars tied the game in the seventh at 8-8 when Michael Davies led off and hit the first pitch for a home run. Davies’ homer was his second of the season and came off Anthony Williams, who earned his first victory of the season. BYU’s Chris Circuit hit a pair of doubles, the first of which came in the two-run first inning. The Cougars, now 18-21, host the T-Birds, 10-28, at noon Tuesday in a pair of seven- inning games.
